Teaching English in Seoul, S. Korea, 2009/10

Introduction

Most people who come to this address will probably know me already, but if you don’t, I’ll explain what this blog is all about.

The focus of this blog is on all aspects on life and culture in Korea, living and teaching as an English teacher in Seoul.

I’ll be doing something that many English teachers in Korea probably won’t be doing – living in a Korean household. I’ll be moving in with my Korean girlfriend, JaYeon, and her family. We’ll be living in the vibrant area of BunDang, Gyeonggi-do, a doughnut shaped constituent that surrounds the capital, Seoul.

I’m in the midst of applying for the job – with some application forms filled out and sent off earlier this month. A few days ago I received a telephone interview for a public school position. I am very hopeful for the position that recruiter will offer, but even if I don’t get offered a job, I will be moving over there anyway in early August and will manually search for a job.

There are many resources on the Web already that focus on giving useful and informative information on teaching English in Korea. However, the focus of this blog is not on offering that sort of information, but a personal viewpoint of aspects in Korean lifestyle and culture told through stories, observations and anecdotes presented through my words, photographs and video recordings.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you will enjoy some of what I will blog about over the next year.
